Miss Terry Shopper has an Online Order Take The Scenic Route
- 22nd August

An online shopping shipment that had a surprisingly odd adventure on its trip to Melbourne from the US. Miss Terry Shopper has a chuckle at the shipment delays.
Recently I was scouring the online world for a pair of good headphones that weren’t going to fall apart or get ruined in my handbag. I was after a sturdy pair, that would block out the sound of the train and people talking nearby so my music listening would not be interruppted.
I was discussing this with a friend while browsing online for that perfect pair when he mentioned that Skullcandy do good headphones. So I investigated the Skullcandy website and decided that the pair of “Uprock Light Blue” was the pair for me. It was after reading the product description and falling in love with the colour that I found the five worst possible words. “Product is out of stock”. Oh no! Now what to do? Luckily Skullcandy were kind enough to let me know who their online partners were.
Kona, Zumiez and Backcountry were the three options I had to go with. As they were all American sites I investigated which would have the cheapest shipping cost, and I went with that one. Especially because I was not in a rush to get my gorgeous new headphones.
I ordered them on August 3rd and received an email from Backcountry telling me that my order was confirmed and to “Get Stoked”. And “stoked” I was, until I received an email on the 6th of August where the subject line read “your order hit a snag – here’s why”. I thought it was great I was getting an email even letting me know that there would be a different arrival date. Thankyou Backcountry! It was when I got into the finer details and found why my headphones were delayed.
I followed my tracking number and was confronted with an explanation of where my headphones had traveled from and too. It appeared that not only did they make it to Melbourne at a surprisingly quick rate, but then they realised that they had arrived FAR too quickly and had time for a little holiday in Honolulu before ending up on my doorstep still within the timeframe orignially set out by Backcountry.
The time frame that Backcountry originally gave me was 8-10 days. My headphones arrived in 5, so I am not even sure why I got the email telling me about the ‘snag’. I didn’t need to know by headphones were sunning themselves in Honolulu. Now I am just plain jealous that I wasn’t there with them.
