Seven months in, emerging electronics online retailer OHKI has appointed advertising stalwart Siimon Reynolds as its chairman and thrown down the gauntlet to rival Kogan and traditional retailers.
New pureplay electronics retailer OHKI has announced that renowned advertising veteran Siimon Reynolds will be the company’s part-time chairman. Reynolds is the co-founder of The Photon Group and now serves as a mentor to entrepreneurs. It is understood he has acquired a minority stake in the business, continuing the trend of high profile investors buying into growing e-commerce ventures.
OHKI was launched in November last year by Luke McEntee and Jason Littlewood as a new contender in the hotly competitive consumer electronics online retail space. McEntee has declared OHKI is aiming for revenues between $8 million and $10 million this financial year, and has online rival Kogan plus traditional retailers in his sights.
“Unlike Kogan, we sell branded products and I don’t believe Kogan will do that, going by what he’s been saying in the press,” McEntee told StartUpSmart. “The OHKI-branded products will be a lot cheaper than what you find elsewhere, but we’ll also focus on our customer service. A lot of online retailers bury their telephone number, but ours is everywhere on the site.”
