Payvment Opens World-first Social Shopping Mall on Facebook

Social commerce takes an interesting turn with the launch of a virtual shopping mall on Facebook.

Social e-commerce provider Payvment launch first Facebook shopping mall

Palo Alto startup Payvment has built the world’s first Facebook shopping mall in a nod to the rising power of social commerce.

The social e-commerce provider’s Facebook Mall allows businesses to sell their goods directly through Facebook and offers a central location for online merchants to connect with customers.

Nearly 50,000 online retailers have signed up to the mall although giants such as Macy’s and Sears are missing from the lineup. The mall comprises over one million searchable products with a directory of e-commerce stores including celebrity brands, independent retailers and smaller, local merchants.

The Mall cleverly deploys the viral nature of the “Like” function, allowing users to like multiple products and share recommendations with friends. It also makes it easy for users to comment on favourite products and creates a personalised dashboard based on previous “Likes.”

“The Shopping Mall on Facebook is where online shopping gets truly social,” said Christian Taylor, Payvment Chief Executive

“We are confident that the Shopping Mall on Facebook will be the place people go to discover new brands, great deals, and the products they and their friends want.”

Shoppers at Facebook Mall only need to fill up one shopping cart and use one credit card, even if they purchase from multiple sellers. Though Payvment is not currently taking sales cuts or charging entry fees, the company hopes to profit by uncovering new brands and products.
