Online Retailer of the Year Vinomofo is spreading its wings outside the wine category, investing in the emerging online meal delivery service Nourissh.
Fresh from scooping the coveted Online Retailer of the Year Award in July, founders of online wine retailer Vinomofo are venturing into the growing home delivery meals market, investing $250k in fellow Australian start-up Nourissh.
Nourissh is an online meal delivery company with a difference. With a team of wellness experts, a former Nobu chef and leading internet entrepreneurs behind the business, the startup intends to tap the growing ‘food as medicine’ movement by making healthy eating accessible to everyone.
Using only local and organic ingredients, each meal is prepared by former Nobu chef David Selex and nutritionally approved by Nourissh’s in-house nutritionist Damian Brown. All meals are carefully prepared by the team to ensure the body is nourished on a cellular level, allowing the body to repair and thrive. It’s like having your own private chef and nutritionist preparing your meals.
Investors Justin Dry and Andre Eikmeier, co-founders and joint CEO’s of Vinomofo see the delivery meals market as a key area of growth.
“The meal delivery space is exploding overseas and we’re starting to see the same thing happen here in Australia. Nourissh ties in nicely with our vision – a food delivery service with a point of difference and huge potential for growth. Good food and good wine go naturally together and it’s always been our vision to make them more accessible,” said Dry.
“More and more people are ditching the weekly grocery run for top-grade services that deliver fresh, delicious meals ready to go to your door. The prepared meals industry is worth more than $900 million in Australia alone, with huge growth predicated during the next five years*.”
Nourissh was founded by accredited Sports Kinesiologist Amanda Campbell who believes that food is medicine. After a serious Multiple Sclerosis attack left her paralysed, she looked to western and eastern medicines and focused on nutrition at a cellular level to heal and take back control of her life.
“The idea for Nourissh started at my private practice Bend Like Bamboo in 2014, my clients wanted advice about the best foods to compliment their medical treatments. Knowing the success that I experienced, I was sharing food recommendations I researched and applied along the way to help my recovery and my clients were seeing positive results. I knew then that I wanted to share this with the wider community,” said Campbell.
Nourissh’s in-house nutritionist Damian Brown also recovered from a Chronic Auto Immune Disease, Ankylosing Spondylitis. Together in their private practices and now Nourissh, Amanda and Damian assist others to rebuild their lives. As a combined team they hold qualifications in: Functional Medicine, Nutrition, Kinesiology, Naturopathy and Exercise Science.
Business Manager Scott Julian, the founder of global internet research business Effective Measure, said the investment, knowledge and support offered by Vinomofo will greatly assist Nourissh’s growth.
“We want to be the leader in the home delivery meals market. Vinomofo is a great match for our business model as we’re both targeting time poor professionals and families who care about what they eat and drink. Having their support and knowledge is such a valuable resource to our business,” said Julian.
Nourissh currently delivers to the greater Melbourne and Mornington Peninsula areas but has plans to expand to the rest of Australia over the next 12 months.
