ASOS (As Seen On Screen)’s plans for global domination in e-commerce apparel sales appear on track, with news this week that international sales now account for 52% of the company’s annual sales.
According to Marketing Week, UK sales increased 24% for the first quarter this year while international sales jumped 161% during the same period. Asos expects its full year profit to be towards the upper end of expectations but says that its bold investment in offering free international shipping and returns has reduced its overall margin.
For the year, total sales have increased 58% to £324.8m, with CEO Nick Robertson saying international sales are “increasingly significant” for the future of the business.
