This month Dick Smith celebrates its first birthday as a pureplay retailer, following the rescue and revival of the business by Kogan.com. The iconic Australian brand says it’s here to stay.
Kogan.com acquired the iconic Australian brand in March 2016, relaunching the new online-only Dick Smith in May 2016, one month ahead of schedule.
Dick Smith says its thriving under new management, offering great deals to Australian shoppers on more than 11,000 products.
The revamped online store leverages over a decade of online retail, product development and customer service excellence. Dick Smith says it’s now a sustainable retailer that aims to deliver excellent value and customer service.
“People thought the Dick Smith brand could not be revived, and we knew it was a mammoth task,” says Ruslan Kogan, CEO of Dick Smith and founder of Kogan.com. “Many had written the business off, but we crunched the numbers and knew we could make it work — and that’s exactly what we’ve done.”
Kogan says that at the centre of Dick Smith’s offering is providing its consumers with genuine value. “Trust takes decades to build and can be lost very quickly, but we knew that we could save Dick Smith if we delivered genuine value to shoppers and backed it up with great service.
“I remember as a kid, I was always visiting Dick Smith to look for parts to upgrade my computer. There is a strong history of passion in the community for how technology can improve our lives and it has been a privilege to maintain and grow the legacy of this great Australian brand.”
To celebrate the relaunch birthday of one of Australia’s most recognisable brands, Dick Smith is offering huge discounts on dozens of items, from kitchen appliances to smartphones and computers from brands like Apple, LG, Samsung and ASUS.
