Getprice relaunches its iPhone app, incorporating ratings and reviews and location-based functionality, in response to market demand from mobile enabled consumers.
“Shoppers are becoming increasingly value-conscious and consumers are turning to the internet to pre-shop and research the best value items. The explosion of internet enabled smart phones means that shoppers can undertake this research anywhere and at any time,” commented Director of Product and Marketing, David Whiteman.
The Getprice app has had over 50,000 downloads to date and according to Whiteman this relaunch “represents an adaptation to changing market demands”.
“The app is being used heavily for higher value, more complex items like appliances and electronics as well as family and home categories. Generally, we’re seeing a lot of usage during peak shopping times when people are out and about at shopping centres, comparing products and prices.”
Featuring two million product offers in the key categories of cameras, laptops, appliances, televisions, furniture, toys and accessories, the updated application now allows user to:
- View ratings and reviews for products and the stores from experts and other users.
- Use location-based resources to more easily find stores in their proximity.
- Save wishlists and share product offers with friends.
“The inclusion of the reviews and ratings function offers an additional benefit for shoppers when locating the best bargains by providing them with expert and consumer knowledge and experience with particular products.”
Though the Getprice mobile application is only currently available for the iPhone, Whiteman advised that the company has plans for development of an Android-based app.
