A good landing page is something that you can’t take for granted. It’s surprising how many websites overlook the basics.
They may seem simple, but ignoring these landing page tips is what could be standing between you and your website’s performance.
1. Grammar and spelling is important!
When you are asking a customer to trust you with their address and billing information, you have to be seen as trustworthy. You could risk losing a customer if your website has grammatical errors and typos. It makes you look unprofessional and can affect your credibility.
2. Keep it simple
Your conversion button should stand out and be placed right near your call to action. There is no point telling your user to “Buy Now” or “Download Free” if they then have to search around for how to buy or download.
“Some site operators forget about users when they cater to their own company’s ego or try to show the dazzling things they can do with web technology,” says Dr BJ Fogg of his Stanford Web Credibility Research.
3. Trial and error
Optimising your landing page for conversion may not happen overnight. Run A/B tests to see what resonates with users. Changing the colour of your call to action button may increase conversions. How will you know if a red or green button works better for you if you don’t try it?
