The inaugural Brisbane ShopTalk event is scheduled for July 16 and will feature three industry experts in a discussion of loyalty and CRM.
E-commerce consultancy Amblique plans to launch its first Brisbane-based ShopTalk event, which is scheduled to feature three retail and e-commerce experts from various corners of the industry.
The industry discussion will centre around the topic ‘Loyalty & CRM: Attracting, Engaging and Retaining Members in the Omnichannel World’, holding relevance for any business operating a customer-centric business model across multiple channels.
The lineup of featured speakers includes:
- Kevin McAulay, Group General Manager Marketing & Communications at Super Retail Group
- Glenn Broadhurst, Head of eCommerce at Cover-More Insurance
- Phil Gunter, Principal at New World Loyalty working with clients such as Lorna Jane (previously, GM of Loyalty and CRM, Velocity Frequent Flyer)
“Without a CRM, you have no ability to personalise an experience, understand or incentivise a customer. No-one can remember 100,000 names, birthdays and purchase preferences,” Broadhurts said. “Loyalty is the affinity you can achieve by providing optimal personalised and professional service. Optimising both, you reduce ‘noise’ and give customers a great experience.”
Gunter states, “A good loyalty and CRM system can be truly transformational for a retailer – providing invaluable customer information and insights and enabling targeted, relevant communications that engage customers and drive sales. Unfortunately most loyalty programs do not deliver to their full potential with many little more than a cheap way to collect emails.”
The panel will explore the importance of Loyalty and CRM with plenty of time for audience questions and interaction.
The regular e-commerce-focused meet-up group was first launched in Sydney and Melbourne in 2012, followed by New Zealand in 2013 and aims to bring together e-commerce experts and enthusiasts to share insights, tips and a drink. It attracts retailers from the big end of town though to start ups.
Lisa Powell, Senior eCommerce Strategist for Amblique said that interest in the new event has been high, which isn’t surprising, given the growth of online retail in the region.
“With so much movement in the industry and so many great minds in Brisbane, it seemed silly that there wasn’t a regular e-commerce focused meet-up group,” she says. “ ShopTalk Brisbane was started to fill this void.”
The first of these biannual Brisbane events is set for July 16 and will kick off at 6.15pm at The London Club. The event is open to retailers and associated sponsors only and numbers are limited. For further details, and to RSVP, please see the event’s Meetup page.
