Online handmade and vintage goods retailer Etsy has announced a partnership with David Jones to launch a ‘gifting marketplace’.

Following the success of a similar Christmas season pop-up store last year, Unwrap Etsy at David Jones will take place in the On Seven location at David Jones’ Elizabeth St store in Sydney from December 4 to 7, giving shoppers the chance to find truly unique gifts for friends and family over Christmas, watch a team of 40 craftspeople from Etsy’s Australian creative community with a series of maker demonstrations, and also attend a number of hands-on making workshops.

Some of the Etsy creators on board with the program include jewellers Belinda Saville, Ena & Albert and Fairina Cheng; homewares seller Grace Wood Designs, Nomi Makes, House Of Origin and Manual Arts Department; clothes and accessories retailers OK OK, B. Dakin and Fergus And The Cat; and art prints and stationery vendors Bill & Scarlet and Drawn By Carmen.

Food and drink will be provided to attendees, as well as the Christmas cheer and spirit David Jones provides this time of year.

“We are delighted to be partnering with such an iconic Australian brand as David Jones,” said Etsy’s Managing Director for Australia and Asia, Helen Souness, in a press release this morning. “To have our sellers sit alongside the brands housed within David Jones is really exciting to see. We feel that this innovative partnership, which represents incredible opportunity for the creative businesses taking part, is going to be really well received by our loyal Etsy customers.”

“This is a really exciting collaboration that we are so proud to be a part of,” echoed Donna Player, David Jones’ Group Executive for Merchandise. “Etsy is a very innovative online brand and we think our customers will really love this addition to our store offering this Christmas.”
