Target Plans to Launch Loyalty Program
On October 6th, Target (US) will launch Target Circle, a new loyalty program. The platform offers a one per cent cashback on every item purchased in-store and online, as well as a birthday gift and the opportunity for users to vote on ‘Target’s local community-giving initiatives’. The platform has been in testing for a year and a half, and will officially launch next month. “We’re always looking for ways to create even easier, more rewarding shopping experiences that give them another reason to choose Target,” explained Rick Gomez, Target’s Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Digital Officer.
Previous perks of the once-named Target Red program included 50 per cent discounts on specific items and same-delivery with Shipt, but they were removed. “We worked directly with guests to develop Target Circle, and the program includes the benefits and perks they told us were most important to them, from earning on every trip to having the opportunity to help Target make a positive impact in their local communities,” Mr Gomez said.
Rihanna Hosts NYFW Runway – Exclusively on Amazon Prime
Rihanna’s luxury brand, Savage x Fenty, is showcasing at NYFW. There’s a catch, however. The entire runway will broadcast exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Rihanna has conquered the worlds of music, film, beauty and fashion. She has reinvented the idea of what fashionable lingerie should be for a global customer. The brand authentically reflects empowering statements of inclusivity, body positivity and fun. The Savage x Fenty show promises to be a ground-breaking and truly unique experience, and we’re thrilled to give our global customers an exclusive front-row seat,” explained Jennifer Salke, the Head of Amazon Studio.
For those who visited the show, there was a strict ‘no phones’ rule, and guests were made to present a photo ID and have their bags checked by security guards upon arrival. Rihanna’s latest S/S 2020 collection will also be available to purchase on Amazon Fashion.
Jack Ma Farewells Alibaba with Rock Star Show
Alibaba’s Chief Executive Officer, Jack Ma, has formally stepped down from his role with a ‘rock star’ goodbye show. The four-hour performance featured costumed dancers, traditional Chinese robes, dubstep and Mr Ma donning a rockstar-esque wig and an electric guitar. This comes twelve months after he promised he would step down from his role and pass it to Daniel Zhang.
“After tonight I will start a new life. I do believe the world is good, there are so many opportunities, and I love excitement so much, which is why I will retire early,” Mr Ma explained to the packed theatre of 80,000 people. “It is not easy to be a strong company, but it is more difficult to be a good company,” he said. “A strong company is determined by its commercial ability, while a good company is responsible and kind.”
