Aussie delivery start-up Shippit has announced a partnership with Australia Post to help simplify the delivery process for online retailers and their customers.
Australian online delivery provider Shippit has announced a partnership with Australia Post. The deal means that Shippit’s retailers will now have access to Australia Post’s vast distribution network.
Shippit launched in early 2015 and specialises in connecting online retailers with traditional courier companies and offering retailers greater flexibility in the delivery options they can offer.
“Shippit was designed to revolutionise the delivery experience for online shoppers,” said Robert Hango-Zada, co-founder of Shippit. “With seven out of 10 online purchases being delivered by Australia Post, this is a terrific opportunity for Shippit’s technology to help reduce friction and provide a better experience for local retailers and their customers.
“The addition of Australia Post means that Shippit now harnesses access to over 11,000 delivery vehicles Australia-wide — making it one of Australia’s largest delivery platforms.”
Partnering with a market giant like Australia Post will help scale Shippit’s available network and enhance the start-up’s visibility.
“This obviously presents meaningful supply-side validation of our technology. Australia Post sees the value in what we have developed and are looking to Shippit to help them provide a better delivery experience to their customers. In addition, with the scale of their network and reach of their customer base, this means we can rapidly rollout our beautifully designed delivery technology, touching more parts of the e-commerce industry in a shorter period of time,” said Robert Hango-Zada.
For Australia Post, partnering with more nimble delivery start-ups helps it stay at the forefront of innovation and access the full range of online retailers.
“There is broad alignment between the vision we have for the delivery industry and what Australia Post is looking to achieve. By developing a solution for a leading Australian omni-channel retailer, it was clear that the technology we had developed could benefit more businesses with the right logistics partners. Striking an agreement was a logical step in helping us both scale the impact of this solution.”
The partnership with Australia Post means that more online shoppers will be able to track their parcels over the last mile in real-time by using a unique hyperlink through Shippit’s website and by receiving SMS and email alerts. Shippit’s interface also means that customers can reschedule and reroute deliveries after making the purchase, as well as providing feedback and ratings for the delivery experience.
Shippit closed a $500,000 seed investment round with Equity Venture Partners late last year.
