IKEA Australia has launched a same day click and collect service which is now available from the Canberra store responding to overwhelming customer demand. The faster new service is a first for IKEA Australia.
A huge volume of IKEA stock, equivalent to two Olympic swimming pools, has already been sold online in Canberra since November 2017 through its click and collect and home delivery.
“At IKEA we are very excited to be able to offer a new same day click and collect service for Canberra and we know our customers will be too. Canberrans can’t get enough of the IKEA online shopping service, and since click and collect was launched five months ago there has been strong take up for the service. We know that our customers want even more convenience when they shop with IKEA and that’s why we’ve brought in a same day service,” according to Michael Donath, IKEA Australia’s multichannel manager.
“We are always looking for new ways to meet our customers and to offer different solutions to increase flexibility when they shop with us. Canberrans can shop with us in a few ways – they can choose between visiting us in store, having goods delivered to their homes, and now, they have the option to choose same day click and collect or selecting a more convenient day for collection.”
Ikea is slowly but surely strengthening its e-commerce operations in Australia. In November 2016, the Scandanavian furniture giant announced it will launch its first online store in Australia, starting with its click and collect offering in Tasmania, followed by North Queensland earlier this month, and now extended to Canberra.
Ikea says it’s aiming for a twofold physical store footprint in Australia over the next three to four years, with online sales expected to ramp up to at least ten percent of total sales by 2020, with the webstore eventually taking over to become the brand’s largest single store, repeating its footsteps abroad.
