After some teasers from the Head of Amazon Studio Jennifer Salke, the rumour mill is running rapid with some potential changes to Amazon Prime.
Jennifer Salke, the recently appointed head of Amazon Studios this week mentioned a huge makeover to the Prime App for its users. While on a summer press tour in Los Angeles this week, Salke was speaking at the Television Critics Association when she briefly revealed a huge makeover in the works for the prime app.
Whilst Salke did not give much too away, her brief comments have given people plenty to speculate about. One suggestion is that user profiles and personalisation features could be coming to Prime, much like its competitors Netflix and Hulu.
Currently, Prime users are able to personalise their interface through the option add-on subscriptions known as Prime Video Channels. There are no suggested recommendations based on past history and users have been critical of what appears to be a push to show more Amazon-created content.
Whilst Salke was tight-lipped and careful not to reveal too much, she did indicate that the “interface is much more intuitive.” Salke made no attempt to hide Amazon’s ambition of creating the best user interface accessible to customers. Whether or not they are successful in achieving this will be revealed over time.
Amazon Prime was launched in Australia in June this year which means that we may not see this new interface hit our shores for a while. Stay tuned!
